What a great find!

Le moulin hotel rear view in sunshine

Sometimes, we don’t need to write a blog of our own because our lovely guests do the job for us! Mike and Shirley Crabtree of Cheshire came to stay at Le Moulin with their dog Lucien in summer 2015. They were so happy with our dog-friendly ways and wrote us this letter about their stay: “In August 2015 we purchased a puppy from a French breeder in the Dordogne. It was a major trip to collect our new 15-week-old Bernese mountain dog called Lucien and to get him back through the Eurotunnel and to our home in Cheshire. We discovered Moulin aux Draps online and booked for two nights. The staff were very accommodating and very helpful. They gave us the perfect room which was very clean and comfortable. Bringing an untrained and unknown puppy did not phase the staff and everything was done to help us settle our new family member in for his first night away from his kennel. Moulin aux Drapes is set on the outskirts of Desvres and on the edge of the Forest of Desvres in a tranquil valley setting. The grounds are extensive. We ate at the hotel and they also gave us recommendations for other restaurants. Both the evening meals and breakfasts were very good. The location and setup of this small hotel is perfect for travelling with your dog. Within a 45minutes drive of Eurotunnel or the Calais ferries, the hotel is the perfect place for the first night in France or the last stop before an early crossing and home, in one drive. The area around the hotel is also interesting and well worth taking an extra night or two to explore. The hotel would be helpful to dog owners wishing to get a French vet to administer the worming tablet and stamp the pet passport prior to returning home.

We are planning a holiday to France in 2016 and intend to take our new (and now well-trained but large) dog with us. Will we be staying at Moulin aux Draps again? You Bet! Would we recommend this as a good place to stay with your dog …… Absolutely!” We are so pleased that we made this family’s trip to the Opal Coast run so smoothly. Please get in touch to see how we can make your stay with your pet in Northern France go so well.
