Cycling

Get on your saddle, crank it up or get into granny gear, there are cycle routes, roads and lots of scenery to suit every cyclist on the Opal Coast.

‘À vélo’ in the Pas-de-Calais

At Le Moulin, get on your bikes and explore all the beautiful, unspoilt secret places on our doorstep. Many cyclists choose us because we are so near to the port at Calais and Eurotunnel, making us a suitable first and/or last overnight stop. However, the region is blessed with gentle lowland and safe new cycle routes that people often want to explore locally and stay longer. The roads here are perfect for newbie cyclists, families with children on bikes and those seasoned cyclists in super kit who like to shift gear. If you want to take your mountain bike off-road then there are Nature Parks nearby with off-road bike trails too. Ask at reception about some of the circular routes around Desvres and in neighbouring villages. We have all the maps and local knowledge you need to help you on your way. At Le Moulin, we also have plenty of secure cycle storage and we can arrange a picnic for you to take with you on your jaunt.

As every cyclists knows, you need to recover after a day on the road. All our rooms are en suite and we have ample hot water to soothe your saddle sores. At Le Moulin, we have a multitude of restful places where you can regain your strength – the terrace at sun down, the forests beyond our grounds, the bar with its excellent array of wines, and our restaurant with its superb views. Eric the chef will serve you the best carb-rich, delicious traditional French fare which will really get you back on track for another day of blissful cycling – whether that is touring to your next destination or exploring our local area!
