Many people head to Northern France just because it’s a stepping-stone to some superb car rallies. Le Rallye du Touquet, Pas-de-Calais is a highlight of the year for many car clubs and rally enthusiasts everywhere. The stylish seaside resort of Le Touquet is just 45 minutes away from Le Moulin, and, in spring each year, the town comes to life as it plays host to test car racing. But if you love cars then why just come to France to see other motors in action?

Feeling racy?

When in France, why not take your own car for a spin along the peaceful roads of the Opal Coast. The D940, which takes you from Calais to Boulogne-sur-Mer, has been described as one of France’s best-kept secrets. Many people often hit the auto route A16 which takes them down to Paris. While those in the know opt for this quiet and beautiful route which promises views to the sea, gently rolling countryside and pretty seaside resorts and fishing villages. Stop off along the way for delightful views from the cliff tops at Gris Nez and Blanc Nez. If you happen to do the D940 in a lovely old vintage car then we promise you heaven! And, when you’ve experienced everything that the coast road has to offer then it’s a quick spin (25 minutes) along the D341 to Le Moulin.

Our country hotel has loads of free parking so there is plenty of room for you or your touring club to stay. And, when you’ve parked up, you can finish your day with a traditional French meal in our excellent restaurant with fine wines from our bar. After that, you’ll be ready for deep sleep in our comfy, quiet rooms.

Head to some fantastic car rallies in the Pas-de-Calais:

Routes des Flandres 6eme: hundreds of fine vintage cars join this historic rally that takes place in March each year. The 180 km round trip tour from Lomme, Lille is a great place to spot gorgeous old Jaguars, Bugattis, Austin Healeys, MGs, Porsches, Triumphs and BMWs.
Rallye du Touquet: a big event in rally enthusiasts from all over Europe, this is a 3 dayer which takes place each March in the beautiful seaside resort of Le Touquet. Classic-car rally and car exhibition at the race course.

Circuit de Croix at Croix en Ternois: a 1.9 km track which hosts motorcycle and car races up to F3/ events. Possible to hire out for private competitions.

Speed off to some top French car rallies

Circuit des Remparts: on the third weekend of each September is a weekend of classic car action in the lovely, hilly town of Angoulême in central France – join the parades, rally on Saturday and a race on Sunday.
Tour Auto: a fantastic annual extravaganza for classic sport car enthusiasts, this race starts in Paris, covers over 2500 km of road, and finishes in Cannes, Biarritz or St.Tropez. Basically, a re-run of the classic Tour de France Automobile, which ran between 1899 and 1986, you’re guaranteed some fast and furious action with the classiest of cars including Ferrari, Aston Martins, Alpha Romeos, Mustangs and Lotus Elans.
Le Mans Classic: this event takes place every other year and with approximately 110,000 people attending, you can expect some super, pent-up classic car racing. Held in the grounds of the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, expect to see extraordinary classic cars that pre-date 1979.
Circuit of Magny-Cours: another great meet-up of classic cars at this fun 2-day event. Highlight is the parade of historic cars.
Tour de Bretagne: a 2-day tour that kicks off in St Malo that takes you through the beautiful roads of Brittany.
48 Heures d’Automobiles Anciennes de Troyes: a 3-day tour for amazing old cars around Troyes and the countryside of Aube. Parades and sightseeing tours add to the atmosphere.
