France also hosts many motorcycle events which tend to draw the biker crowds in spring and summer. Le Moulin makes an ideal stop over or a place to take a break for bikers and clubs touring Northern France or heading off to Belgium or other biker haunts in Europe. Once you are off the ferry or through Eurotunnel at Calais, our modern, 3-star hotel is just a quick 45-minute ride away. We also have plenty of free parking and space to tinker on your bike if needs be!

Le Moulin is tucked away in its own little piece of countryside with a river running through and forest bustling with wildlife. However, we really are just a few minutes’ ride away from the town of Desvres and a nearby petrol station where you can fill up – remember that many petrol stations in France close after six and most of them are closed on Sundays! At Le Moulin we go out of way to make everyone feel comfortable. After a day of feeling the wind in your face, you’ll be ready to relax in our restaurant, terrace and bar.

A few of the best biking roads through Northern France recommended for bikers:

The roads around Desvres are rolling chalk downland so excellent for a spin. If you fancy a good day of biking near to Calais then the roads to Hesdin via Ferques, Le Wast, Desvres, Hucqueliers and Embry are recommended. Then head back to Calais via the coast road for sea air and great views. Stop over at Le Moulin to break your journey.
Bomb along the coast road taking in elegant seaside resorts of Wissant, Wimereux and Le Touquet, stopping off at Boulogne-sur-Mer for lunch or a spot of shopping. Le Moulin is a great place to stay if you’re heading back to Calais the next day!

The French Motorcycle Grand Prix: This exciting event takes place during May each year. Why not stop over at Le Moulin en route for Le Mans in the south?
Balade du Coeur: The ‘Bikers have heart’ charity event takes place at the Avrannches Motorcycle Club, Rennes, Brittany in northwest France each June. Why not make it part of your motorcycle tour of Northern France?
La Madone des Motards – where revs meet religion: Head to the French capital of bikers in Porcaro in Brittany in August and you can join in the festival of the ‘Madonna of bikers’.

Col de Turini in the Alpes-Maritimes is the famous, high mountain pass (1,607 m) with tighter than tight hairpin bends that is also well known as a stage of the Monte Carlo Rally.

Parts of the Tour de France cycling routes are also popular with bikers, including the road from Mont Ventous to L'Alpe-d'Huez across the largest mountain of the region.
